VEO’s medium-voltage switchgear, the Vector, launched in autumn 2018, has now fully evolved and passed the type tests required to fulfil the latest IEC standards for 40 kA. This makes Vector the first modern switchgear in the Nordic countries to achieve both current withstand and internal arc withstand capabilities at the 40 kA level.
According to Ari Pätsi, VEO’s Substation Development Manager, this was the goal all along. “At the time of the product launch, Vector had passed all the tests for 25 kA. But now we can cover the whole range and use our own switchgear even in large-scale operations, such as in the paper and forest industry, the oil refining industry and high-capacity power plants.”
The expanded market area means that VEO will now be able to provide a Finnish high-quality switchgear to customers, both in Finland and across Europe, as well as all the related maintenance services and know-how as a part of the delivery.
“Finnish know-how and quality are important features for our customers, but so too is the fact that Vector is a low-maintenance product with the highest service continuity class”, says Pätsi.
In addition, Vector combines two issues that are very important to VEO: supreme safety and environmental values. “Passed type tests ensure high personal safety in all operations, and our SF6 free solution makes Vector a green choice that helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions”, Pätsi continues.
