Thanks to the flexibility of the SNP it can be modified to every customer’s specific needs. When using the SNP the utility company has total control also over secondary transmissions such as secondary substations or pole mounted secondary substations.

The SNP can be used both in new substations and already existing ones. The primary purpose of the SNP is to build up a node that communicates with the network control centre. This node can, in real time, for instance, send information about disruptions in operations to the network control centre. It can also take actions if necessary.
