Alta is located in Northern Norway, where the extreme weather conditions make electricity a vital necessity and add certain requirements to the power supply infrastructure. Compared to most other substation projects, the Skoddevarre substation was larger, technically more demanding and more complex. Despite stricter requirements, VEO completed and commissioned the delivery successfully on time. The project gave VEO the opportunity to develop its flexible solutions further to meet the second highest Norwegian preparedness requirements for the electricity supply substations. The substation now has full redundancy with a double busbar 145 kV/22kV and duplicates of all of its critical components. If one component fails, another will automatically take over.
The customer is delighted with the way VEO has collaborated throughout the whole project. “Alta Kraftlag is very satisfied with VEO´s delivery of switchgear and a station automation system to our new 132 kV transformer station Skoddevarre”, says Malin Solheim, Project manager from Alta Kraftlag.
