PRESS RELEASE 19.9.2017
VEO has received an order from the Vattenfall Eldistribution in Sweden to rebuild four substations around the cities of Umeå and Örnsköldsvik in the North of Sweden. The order of almost 6 MEUR, gives a signal of VEO’s strong growth and future prospects on the Swedish market. ”This project is a significant step forward in our cooperation with Vattenfall which is one of our main customers in Sweden. The fact that the delivery also includes VEO’s own product, the medium voltage switchgear, adds a special value to the project”, says Emma Nordström, Manager of Sales in Sweden for VEO’s Substations unit.
This project is a significant step forward in our cooperation with Vattenfall which is one of our main customers in Sweden.
The project is a turn-key delivery including total remodeling of the four existing 40/10 kV substations. The new stations will be built alongside the existing ones to be replaced. The delivery includes besides medium voltage switchgears from 10 to 40 kV also control equipment, as well as the demolishing of the old stations.
Need for reinvestments pushes the market in Sweden
During the past few years, the need to improve the existing transmission and distribution network has increased in Sweden. This is due to change in government compensations for installed base, why the need and investment rate have increased remarkably. The demand is now pushing the domestic capacity. The Finnish owned VEO is now ready for the challenge.
In Finland, VEO is a certified supplier to the power grid owner Fingrid of substations up to 400 kV. VEO, who has been active on the Swedish market since 2009, is now going for a larger market share.”We have the flexibility of a small company, combined with the capacity of a large one. We have the ability to adapt and to grow with the market”, says Emma Nordström.
