VEO Office Expansion Inaugurated

11.9.2008

The inauguration of VEO’s new offices and production facilities was held on 11 September 2008, making the new office building and plant expansion, despite having been busily occupied since June, finally official. The new facilities have enabled VEO’s previously dispersed functions to be concentrated under one roof.

Around 70 guests attended the inauguration ceremony, including numerous representatives from VEO’s key stakeholders. The inaugural speech was delivered by Ole Johansson, President & CEO of Wärtsilä Corporation. Guests were entertained by performances by mezzo-soprano Anna-Lisa Jakobsson and pianist Christine Bengtsson-Lumio.

Wärtsilä Values its Partners

In his speech, Wärtsilä head Ole Johansson emphasised the importance to main contractors such as Wärtsilä of reliable Nauhasuppliers. He also praised VEO, along with the many other local technology suppliers in the Ostrobothnia region, for their vision to expand in the wake of main players such as Wärtsilä. Johansson viewed VEO’s investment in new facilities as a testament to the company’s determination to remain a pioneer within the energy sector.

Johansson also commented that energy sector companies will survive the current competition, despite the economic decline in numerous other sectors. Power plant orders at Wärtsilä, for example, are growing strongly even though ship equipment sales have fallen short of last year’s level.

Following his address, Johansson, assisted by Karl-Erik Kloo, Mauri Holma and Janne Ahl, cut the blue-and-white inaugural ribbon. Mauri Holma concluded the formalities by thanking Johansson for his warm words and presenting him with the VEO table pennant.
